Water Tower Service

UPDATE - The draining of the water tower will begin Tuesday, May 5th!

The City of Morrison announces that its municipal water tower will be temporarily taken out of service beginning May 1, 2026, to allow for scheduled interior tank maintenance. This work is part of the City’s ongoing commitment to maintaining a safe, reliable, and high-quality water system for residents and businesses. The anticipated maintenance period is 4 to 6 weeks.

During the maintenance period, the water system will continue to operate using alternative infrastructure; large-scale hydro-pneumatic pressure tanks. Residents and businesses may experience minor fluctuations in water pressure at times, but no major service interruptions are anticipated.

As a precaution, residents and businesses may notice temporary changes in water clarity, discoloration and odor. If this occurs, residents and businesses are asked to run cold water only (not hot water) for a few minutes until it clears. The water will remain safe for normal use throughout the maintenance period.

The City appreciates the community’s patience and understanding as this important work is completed. Updates will be provided if there are any significant changes to the project timeline or service conditions.

For additional information, please contact City Hall by calling (815) 772-7657, visiting 200 West Main Street or online at the City’s official website; www.morrisonil.org

Draft Ordinance 26-06
The City of Morrison would like to inform residents, businesses and other stakeholders that City Hall will be closed intermittently through July 2026 to accommodate staff training and the implementation of a new computer system.

These closures are necessary as the City transitions to an upgraded computer platform that will support key operations and public services, including utility billing, accounts payable, human resources, and permitting. The new system is designed to improve efficiency, enhance service delivery, and provide a more streamlined experience for residents and businesses.

Due to the nature of the training and system conversion, closures will occur sporadically and may vary in duration. With most of the closures, they will be for 1-2 hours per occurrence. The City encourages residents to plan ahead and check for updates regarding City Hall availability.

During this transition period:

 Online services may be limited or temporarily unavailable.
 Response times for certain services may be delayed.
 Phone calls to City Hall may not be answered. Please leave a message or try again later!

Emergency and public safety services will not be affected.

The City of Morrison appreciates the public’s patience and understanding as staff works to implement these exciting improvements! Updates regarding closures and service availability will be posted on the City’s website (www.morrisonil.org), the community calendar, and social media accounts (@thecityofmorrisonil).

For urgent matters during closures, residents and businesses are encouraged to contact City Hall via email or leave a voicemail, and staff will respond as soon as possible. Specific contact information is available on the City’s website.
