New Park Development

The Morrison City Council has announced the newest park development coming to Morrison.  The City has purchasing 35 acres of land on the northeast side of town.  This area is to be used as an open-air recreational area and will be a wonderful addition to the existing recreational opportunities in and around Morrison.

The park will be located just Route 30 at the intersection of Bishop Road.  Features in the proposed park plan include the following: 1 Fast Pitch Softball Diamond, 1 Baseball Diamond, 3 Softball Diamonds, Junior Tackle Football Field, Basketball Court, Sledding Area, Nature Trail, Walking Path, and much more.  The walking path will connect with North Jackson Street, allowing additional pedestrian traffic to visit the park.  This access will also provide a safe entry point for bicyclists.

Construction of the park is slated to begin within the next year.  It is expected to take 4 to 5 years to complete the project.  The City will begin the bid process early spring of 2006.
