Morrison Fire Department
The Morrison
Fire Department was founded in 1876 and was originally called The
Jackson Hose Company. They started with 10 volunteers and horse drawn
equipment. Today, there are 30 volunteers and a station full of
state-of-the-art equipment.
The Morrison Fire Department serves and protects the city limits of
Morrison and a rural area of about 160 square miles. Morrison’s Fire
Department is different than most. They are not a tax district with a
board of directors, they are a 30-person non-profit corporation, which
survives by collecting our operating expenses by directly billing our
rural subscribers and our contracted operating expenses from the City of
Morrison, which are collected through the City’s taxing system.
Rural bills can be mailed to the Fire Department or paid at Yarbrough
Appliance, 227 West Main Street, Morrison.
The officers as of the April 2010 election are: Chief, Joe Bielema;
1st Assistant Chief, Dalbert Wiebenga; 2nd Assistant Chief, Randy Betts;
Captain/Training Officer, Keith Wiersema; Treasurer, Richard Wieneke;
Secretary, Mike Lewis. Election of officers occurs annually.
To report a fire call 911 – The Whiteside County Sheriff’s
office will get us on our way to assist you.
For any Non-Emergency matters, contact us at the station at (815)
772-2218.
