Morrison
MAPPING Program The Morrison Area Development Corporation, the
Morrison Chamber of Commerce, and the City of Morrison
together have hired the Illinois Institute for Rural
Affairs at Western Illinois University to assist the
community in taking a proactive approach to MAPPING
the future of Morrison. The
MAPPING (Management and Planning
Programs Involving Nonmetropolitan
Groups) program is a planning process whereby
citizen leaders and volunteers, guided by
representatives of WIU, collectively create a long-range
vision for issues like economic development and a plan
of action for achieving them.
A diverse group of community members of various ages
and backgrounds will share ideas and work together
through a series of four, four-hour visioning sessions
which will take place within an 8 to 10 week period.
The group will develop an action plan for implementation
and become organized to present and address the issues
in a town meeting. Their participation will unite
the community and ensure that Morrison continues to be a
great place to live and work.
